Alestis annually calculates the carbon footprint of its facilities in Spain:

Scope 1

Related to propane and natural gas consumption in boilers and fugitive emissions of refrigerant gases.

Scope 2

Indirect emissions related to electricity consumption at facilities, calculated based on actual consumption and the emission factor provided by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge's carbon footprint calculator.

71. The carbon footprint is calculated using 2022 activity data and 2021 emission factors, as 2022 data had not been published at the time of writing.

The measures implemented to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are those mentioned above regarding the efficient use of energy.

In addition to greenhouse gas emissions, there are other emissions associated with paint booths and parts cleaning. These are managed at the Spanish sites in accordance with the provisions of Spanish Royal Decree 117/2003 on the limitation of emissions of volatile organic compounds due to the use of solvents in certain activities.

These emissions are calculated taking into account the Seville, Puerto Real and Tecnobahía plants, using as a reference the data reported by Satefy Kleen, the supplier of the solvent to be recovered, assuming that it represents 60% (for the rest of the managers of this waste, it has not been possible to determine the value).

In addition, in 2022, TOC (Total Organic Carbon) measurements were carried out in the Tecnobahía paint booth, obtaining values within the established limits.

For its part, Alestis do Brasil complies with the current regulation, the Comana Resolution on Climate Change, in the paint booths.

Regarding noise emissions, periodic measurements are carried out according to the frequency established in the authorization of each plant. In 2022, noise measurements were carried out in Puerto Real, obtaining values within the established limits.

In the Brazilian plant, noise reducers have been installed in the nitrogen discharge of the autoclaves. Annual periodic measurements show compliance with applicable noise regulations (NBR 10151, Conama Resolution for urban noise and NR 15 of the Ministry of Economy in its Annex I Tolerance limits for continuous or intermittent noise).

However, the plant has received a complaint from the Environmental Agency about the noise generated by the paint booth. In response, the company is working on a soundproofing project to be implemented in the second half of 2023.

With regard to light pollution, only the Single Environmental Permit for the Seville plant stipulates the need for periodic monitoring of this aspect. However, it was not necessary to carry out these controls in 2022. For the plant in Brazil, there are no legal requirements in this area.
